As a pathologist or clinic user, I want to be able to use a ruler within the Slide View to measure various objects on the screen. The ruler needs to measure horizontally, vertically, and at diagonals, and it needs to scale appropriately as the magnification changes.
Then when working with development found that the yellow which worked great on Cytology and other test types didn’t work so great on fecal test types because of contrast. A dev had the idea to use black outlined with white to solve this issue.
As a pathologist, I want to be able to zoom in and out to specific magnifications. (Using preset buttons) 4 or 5, 10, 20, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100
Pathologists were able to use the + - buttons, (or scroll wheel?) to zoom in and out, but it was difficult to get exact magnifications through those methods. So they were ready for a new way to get to those precise views.
Initially I explored ways to add all these buttons while making sure to condense the amount of “tools” that would appear on the toolbar in the Slide View.
I tested this prototype with some pathologists and (feedback examples)
Went to build and internally there were questions why not reduce the amount of clicks. Would it become too cumbersome to click and click to select the preferred magnification? And that this would be a feature that would be worth the real estate it would take up. So in the next iteration I went ahead and had the buttons all immediately visible on the toolbar.
